So Many Choices

A few months ago the beaters on my mixer died, and I've been mixing everything by hand ever since.
This morning my blender died while making smoothies.
So I am quickly returning to a more old-fashioned style of cooking.
Those of you who think that's a good thing probably don't have six children.
So I've been daydreaming today, and I was wondering if any of you could help add some accuracy to my daydreams.
Any thoughts on Bosch vs. Kitchen Aid?
Both are horrendously expensive (That's before you buy any attachments.)
My mom always used a Bosch, and it's lasted for as long as I can remember. But the Kitchen Aid does come in a larger variety of colors, and it might be fun to choose between Pistachio or Bayleaf. But if it did a good job, I guess I could live with Green Apple.
I've heard they'll do everything in the kitchen and you won't ever need another machine. So if I could replace the microwave, the stove, and the fridge with this one handy little Green Apple machine, then that would be great.
But what I really need is a machine that will scrub the kitchen floor and do laundry. I would even be willing to settle for Majestic Yellow if I could have that!
So while I'm busy dreaming in technicolor, could you give me your advice?
Buff Bosch or Trendy Kitchen Aid?

Kitchen Aid. They last FOREVER (my mom's will celebrate its 32nd anniversary this December. Mine will celebrate its 10th.) In fact, they will last so long you will pray it will break down so the trendy color of oh, three decades ago, can be replaced by a new one. :) (My mom's is Avacado green a la 1970s).

There isn't anything a Kitchen Aid can't do - and you can always acquire some of the handier attachments - like the shredder/slicer - which is absolutely necessary if you are making scalloped potatoes for, say, a family of 8.

However, mine refuses to mop the floor or put laundry away. If the Bosch does that, I might have to sell my soul, er, Kitchen Aid.

I guess it usually comes down to what you grew up with. I always remember my mom using the Kitchen aid and I got one as a present for our wedding and I probably take it for grantid for how much I use it for. I wish there was something we could buy that did all you mentioned in the kitchen, I would be the first in line. Good luck with your decision!

My mom always had a bosch too. Amy has a kitchen aid. I have nothing, but oh ya, I don't cook or bake so I am not much help. I love your blog. It is very fun to visit. See you soon. Mindy

I have a Kitchen Aid, which I love (it's red--my favorite color). They have all metal gears and internal parts so they're made to last forever. My mom, however, always had a Bosch (am I sensing a connection to your mom?) which has also lasted a long time. The one thing I'm not completely happy with on my Kitchen Aid is the capacity. Bosch's can handle so much more. You can buy attachments for them, too. So, there are my pros/cons for you. Good luck with your decision.

I have a kitchen aid, but grew up using a Bosch. I love them both--you couldn't go wrong with either. One thing I like about my Kitchen Aid better than Bosch is that there is no center column in the middle of the bowl. I always thought it was a pain to scrape that middle column! Now--I think it is handy that the blender attaches right to the same base--however, my mom has had to replace her blender 3 times! Blenders just don't last--no matter who makes it!! I got the Roto-slicer/shredder for my Kitchen Aid, it's awsome--I am in the process of saving up for the Grain mill also--I'll let you know how that works out.
Good luck--one word of advise, if you buy Kitchen Aid, make sure you get the large capacity bowl and at least 350 watts! You won't go wrong!

OK I have a huge opinion on this one. Kitchen Aids are much cuter, but if you bake bread, go with Bosch. You can only make two to three loaves in a Kitchen Aid and you can make like six in a Bosch. Actually, I have a Mix and Blend and I like it better than the Bosch I used to have because it has a super powerful blender Like the ones they sell at the fair. (I can make snow from ice in it) But Kitchen aids are cute :)
