Snow Tubing

On Saturday we decided it was high time we did something about all this stinkin' snow.

So we went tubing!

Missing something, Robyn?

Lydia had a great time and was very well behaved. :)

Jennie didn't feel like going down, but the purple marshmallow look
worked great on the sidelines.

This is Tom and Emily at the end of their ride. They just happen to be in the bush that just happened to POP this tube seconds after I took the picture.

And here is a rare moment showing Ben with a tube.
Mostly he preferred going down penguin-style.
I think this was Cannon's one and only ride down the hill.
And you can see Tom's eyes! Usually his hat was covering his nose by the time he made it to the bottom.

Here is a brief clip of Ben's amazing penguin imitation.
(With commentary by Wil)

And who would have guessed?
After all the other kids were freezing cold and had gone to hide in the van and get warm - who kept going back for ride after ride?
Emily, of course!

Book Club Pick

Alright, all you reading fans out there,
I sure could use your help
It's my turn to pick the book for book club next month.

This month we read The Secret Life of Bees, which I actually enjoyed but I'm not sure I would dare recommend. Too much swearing and weird body consciousness.
And sorry, Twilight has been done.

The last time it was my turn I chose All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot.
I was harassed endlessly for all the swear words.
But we finally decided that if you say them with an English accent, then they don't count :)
And I did try to use a Southern accent on that Bee book, but somehow it made them worse.
At least I won't be the only one being harassed now.

Anyway

What are your suggestions?
Have any all-time favorites that would be perfect to share?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Waiting

Well, Jef left for China on Sunday morning.
And I think he took my ambition with him.
We've basically done nothing since he left.
Sure, I went to my PTO meeting, and Ben went to Scouts
But mostly we've just been sitting around
playing cards
watching movies
reading
Just waiting for Jef to get home, I guess
Which is silly because he's gone most of the day even when he's in town,
Maybe it's because no one is going to notice if I did anything or not.
No one is going to walk through the door at the end of the day and say,
"So, what did you do today?"
So I don't do anything

P.S. The one thing I have done in the last week is make the yummiest pumpkin bread ever.
Here's the link to the recipe. You gotta try it!

3 months

Lydia is three months old today!
And, exactly on time, she is ready for her 3-6 month clothes.
What a good girl.
Happy Birthday Lydia!

Snow Fun

Wow, we got tons of snow!
By the time we got done with 1:00 church and then choir practice, it was almost dark. But that didn't stop the kids! They all changed into snowsuits and played in the snow until long after dark.

They built a snowman and named it Freddy.

It looks like a Freddy, don't you think?

Everyone had lots of fun.

Well, almost everyone.

Smiles

Lydia's smiles are so sweet, but they're sure hard to catch on camera.
Here are two pretty good ones.

Warriors

Who knew that backpacks made such good armor?
And who knew you could look so fierce with a
Barbie backpack strapped to your legs?
